There are ten basic safety rules that we apply in our day-to-day work in order to be safer and avoid incidents involving people while carrying out our work. These rules are mandatory for all our employees and contractors and are as follows:
- Safe driving
- Work permits
- Isolation and lockout
- Entry to confined spaces
- Excavation
- Mobile and energized equipment
- Work at height
- Lifting operations
- Dropped objects
- Prevention of leaks
Dissemination of these rules is carried out on an ongoing basis with the help of various communication and training materials.
In operations, there are daily challenges and limitations in the relationship with the environment, work teams, and production facilities, and it is people's performance that makes the work environment safe. Understanding which factors can be acted upon is crucial to proactively avoid any type of incident and to provide a more efficient and safer service to society.
We are making available to our entire value chain a guide on improving human performance in safety, which we have prepared with the aim of showing the unique vision towards which the energy industry is heading, together with the principles to be adopted.

We firmly believe that the goal to be excellent is possible and to achieve it we work with the stakeholders involved in the life cycle of our activities on continuous improvement and the definition of health and safety management programs and systems.
We emphasize the importance of improving the Safety Culture to support decision-making at each level of the company. Regardless of their post or geographical location, all employees and people who work with us are responsible for their safety and for contributing to the safety of the people around us.
We inform and involve the company's and collaborating companies' employees in the assessment of risks and impacts, and the associated controls prior to undertaking any activity.
We promote the creation of the environment of trust necessary for safety information to flow transparently in our activities and in this way we can identify and correct risk scenarios.
We carry out our activities with operational discipline by duly authorized and qualified professionals, fulfilling the plans and procedures defined for the activities and implementing corrective actions in a timely manner when deviations occur.
As key stakeholders, the performance of our product and service suppliers is essential to achieve our company's objectives.
We establish the processes and tools for selecting, monitoring, reviewing, and improving the products and services delivered to us. The Division of Procurement and Contracts is responsible for rating suppliers and contractors including safety criteria in the rating questionnaires and audits and evaluating their performance in terms of safety management.
We analyze matters of mutual interest or concern throughout the life cycle of the activities, services, and products.
We confirm that the company has clearly identified and communicated the relevant risks that must be known, addressed, and managed by the stakeholders.
We ensure that our Company's products and services meet our customers' safety and environmental performance expectations.

We treat human error and non-compliance as elements of analysis and organizational learning, ensuring that the correction and sanctioning processes do not penalize communication and reporting.
Raising awareness among our contractors and suppliers is an essential pillar. We share our safety culture, ensuring that contractors who work at our facilities have the necessary safety training to carry out their work. We learn together, share good practices, procedures, and lessons learned and we encourage participation in sensitization and awareness conferences.
Innovating in our training and awareness programs
We have set ourselves the objective of creating innovative tools and methodologies for our training programs that use the latest technology to facilitate learning. To achieve this, we have developed the following techniques:
- Gamification: A highly effective way to promote learning is by incorporating games. Since 2015, we have been creating a whole host of resources ranging from simple board games to sophisticated online games, which allow us to use these techniques in both small centers and throughout the entire company, both by our employees and collaborating companies. Spin and learn is an example of these types of training games and is found on the website of the 10 Basic Safety Rules.
- Virtual reality: We have developed a virtual reality training program where our employees and collaborators have experienced the 10 Basic Safety Rules in a virtual environment.
